The Western Australian Country Football League (WACFL) is a stand out new partnership. The Regional Men’s Health Initiative(RMHI) has used money from sponsorships and donations to sponsor WACFL to promote men’s health and wellbeing messages. Starting in 2014 for a period of 3 years, the WACFL will run a Regional Men’s Health round, contributing their outstanding access to print, radio and television media to publicise the event.
WACFL believes the health of their participants is extremely important and they continue to look for ways to promote positive messages to those involved with WACFL Leagues and Clubs.
Unfortunately, in regional Western Australia, men’s health is often ignored, but through education we believe we can help our participants grow their knowledge base of signs to look for and steps to take to ensure they are taking care of their health and wellbeing.
WACFL’s “Talk to a Mate Men’s Wellbeing Round”
At every country football game during the 2014 & 2015 rounds RMHI messages to “Talk to a Mate” feature in the budgets (pamphlets distributed to spectators) and every player received a fridge magnet. WACFL arranged for every one of the 150 football clubs to receive an education info pack with magnets, brochures and DVD’s. Clubs are encouraged to invite RHMI to present education sessions to their players.
This year in 2016 every senior League fixture across the State will play with a Regional Men’s Health Initiative branded football. Also, in addition to last years fridge magnets, each team across the state have been provided with an A4 size clip frame with our “Talk to a Mate” message to become a perminent fixture in club rooms.
